Field Education

Working in a kitchenMinistry is needed everywhere. During your field education experiences, included in all three years of study, you prepare to bring your ministerial service to a variety of people, places, and circumstances. Dedicated mentors assist you in preparing for the different challenges and drawing the most important lessons from the various settings.

You can broaden your experience base by taking advantage of one of our national or international ministry immersion trips. Throughout, field education seminars help you to integrate your ministry and life experiences with your theological studies.

These are some of the possible ministry placements where you can gain service experience:

“The field education keeps it real. If we only remained with our heads in the sky in academia, it might be tempting to forget what I know I’m called to – evangelization, service, and love in Christ! I look forward to my weekly time at the hospital because it reminds me why I am getting my M.Div.”

“I’m being challenged to work with a population that I’ve never worked with before, and it’s allowed me to notice qualities about myself that I wasn’t previously aware of.”
--SEAN ANGIEL

“The specialized pastoral classes, such as Pastoral Counseling II and Pastoral Administration, have really helped. My field education placement has really helped me learn how to be a minister because it offers me a concrete experience and avenue for analyzing that experience. I also learn from my classmates and their case studies.”
